Nile AIDS Project is a US based non-profit founded in 2010 by a former volunteer at St. Francis Health Care Services (STFHCS). Given its 501c3 tax status Nile AIDS Project allows US based donors to make tax-exempt contributions to STFHCS and which acts as an independent fundraising source for STFHCS. Nile AIDS Project also provides advocacy support for the mission of St. Francis – mitigating the impact of HIV/AIDS.
In the past we have been able to mobilize sufficient funds to send a shipping container of medical supplies to stock and open the maternity ward. This will greatly contribute to efforts to prevent mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV.
Our second major initiative is assisting SFHCS with technical/media issues – including:
- website design and maintenance
- newsletter design, editing, and distribution
- facilitating the email system used by staff at STFHCS
Given the importance of former volunteers – once people see the amazing work being done at SFHCS they usually want to continue contributing to the clinic once they return home, we can also act as a network for individuals who have formerly visited STFHCS in Uganda to maintain their contacts with the clinic and to network with one another.
We are always looking for motivated volunteers to assist with fundraising and technical/media assistance.
